Now it is time to get to work on the Bomex body parts. First is the bumper and brake vent system. |
|
We pulled off the nose of the car. |
|
Then we laid waste to the bumper with the plasma cutter-I love the plasma cutter. We started to fit the bumper vents. In the end, I decided to go with two outboard vents that will feed the brake rotors. |

I love the look of this gaping maw of V8 destruction... that mouth is just going to chew up Mustangs :) Plus, it will provide the awesome extra cooling that was needed. |

The rear of the car with the huge rear wing. |

The Bomex body kit installed. The side skirts are now on, which should help the aerodynamic worth of the car; the extended fenders will allow me to run some very silly 16x10 rims in the rear next season. |
|
I think the body kit looks aggressive, and the extra cooling of the vents will help with the heat. |

The car on May 21, 2004, just before going to get painted. |

A good picture of the Bomex kit. I think it turned out well. Some may not like this kit, but I think it looks aggressive and has good cooling ability. |
|
The 240sx, painted. A big thanks goes to Raj at Discovery Auto Collision for painting the car—and delivering it on time with a very nice paint job! |

The gaping maw of V8 destruction... not that they will see it much ;) |

The day before the first lapping day. Some people don't like the Bomex kit and what I have done. However, I say to them: "this is a track car, and I want to project an image of aggression and speed." I think the many vents and shapes do that well. Plus, the new nose helped drop the rad's racing temperature by almost 20°! |
|
A close-up of the nose section. The main nose duct is separated by an aluminum undertray to keep the air directed into the intercooler, rad, and oil cooler section. This was the main reason for the use of the Bomex nose: it had the largest amount of vents that I could find, and it actually works very well on dropping the temps at speed. Overall, I am very happy with the car's new look. It has transformed the ugly ducking that was potentially powerful into a now well-rounded sports car, capable of dealing with all but a few sports cars in the world! |
