My newly acquired Porsche 911 Targa. It is a 1988 model, with the last 3.2L, air-cooled engine. It has 214BHP and 195 FT LBS torque. I wanted a new sports car. Frankly, I cannot stand driving an SUV anymore. It is a breath of fresh air to drive this car... very fun and quirky machine. |

The 911's nose. This car for street duty really is a joy to drive. It's very smooth and stable at high speeds. It is 100% an autobahn car. |

I plan on leaving the 911 in stock form, however, the stock stereo was so horrid sounding that I could not stand it. In my younger years, I was very into car stereos, and I had my 240sx done up with very nice competition system. Lucky for me, I kept all of the components. Okay, they may be a little dated, but they are still very good quality. The system starts with a PPI (Precision Power) AX400 Art Series Amp (400 Watts RMS, and very clean). That gets powered by a 1 Farad cap, and power distribution box. The head unit is an Alpine 1310 CD controller. It is very clean-looking, and controls an Alpine 6-pack CD changer. |

For speakers, how can there be any other choice than JL? I went with JL tweeters and JL 6 inch mids in the door. I would have liked to go with the twin 5 1/4 inch, however we would have had to butcher the door with pods. The front imaging is a bit weak and low, but it is a huge improvement over stock. Subs were the next issue, since the 911 has very little space in it. I had some 12s left over, but there was no way to fit them in, so I used 2 JL 8 inch "subs" (I would say they are mid drivers) in a small, sealed box behind the front seats. They have a nice, tight mid bass punch to them. What would be really awesome is if I could fit a single 10 inch in somewhere. |
